Intel® NUC Elements are turnkey computer solutions for both office work and gaming. They are available as plug-in cards in 2 different formats, the Compute Element U and H. Similar to a standard Intel NUC, each one includes a processor with a graphics chipset. However, the RAM and storage are managed differently depending on the type of Compute Element.

What is an Intel® NUC Compute Element U?

A Compute Element U is a plug-in card that includes a processor (mobile version), a graphics chipset, memory, and a wireless Wi-Fi and Bluetooth system. Some may also have an integrated 64GB eMMC storage.

It plugs into a carrier board, which in addition to having all the connectors that will make up your computer, can also accommodate one or more NVMe SSD storage devices. The whole thing is connected to a chassis that matches the carrier board.

They are generally used for office work or tasks such as digital signage management. They are particularly popular in the education sector, thanks to their performance and reliability. A very compact and economical solution.

What is an Intel® NUC Compute Element H?

The Compute Element H are cards that look a bit like graphics cards. They contain the equivalent of a motherboard, a processor, a graphics chipset, M.2 NVMe SSD storage, and Sodimm RAM. It is important to note that the processors are standard versions (non-mobile). Indeed, the Compute Element H are here for performance! It is a complete and powerful computer in a very compact format.

They are to be plugged into a carrier board, which may contain another port for a graphics card. The whole can be put into a case dedicated to the NUC Extreme Compute Element, equipped with a power supply to create a gaming mini PC. It is often necessary to pay attention to the format of the case and the graphics card, which may not be compatible in terms of size, but also in terms of power supply. Nvidia RTX 3080 and higher cards require at least 750 watts of power to function properly.

Compute Element U are designed for office or industrial workstation use. They derive their power from an extremely miniaturized card that is both compact and rugged in unusual environments.

The Compute Element H is for those who love to unleash the power, whether it's for computing, creativity, and especially gaming! You can find them in this category, but also in the Dragon Canyon category, which uses the same technology.

Both types are equipped with native wireless WiFi and Bluetooth communication systems.
